STUDY TOUR REPORT 2015-2016
Botany Department III
C. B.Z & B.B.C students (28) along with 5 staff members went on a one day
study tour on 18-02-2016 to Citrus Research Centre, Petluru. Organic farm
Cultivation or Nursery form at Akkka samudram. Vermi compost Yard near
Bangarupeta and finally to Cifal Herbal (P) Ltd. Gudur.
In the organic form
owned by Sri Ramesh. We learnt preparation
of Panchakavya made from Cow dung Cow urine, Jaggery, Gram flour, Anthill soil.
By using this panchakavya the plant growth rate is very high and also improves
disease resistance. He is also developed a good nursery. He explained Nursery
Development techniques. He is effectively using to Micro irrigation to minimize
water consumption. He is extensively using in biopesticides like neem oil ,neem
seeds powder , neem leafs to control diseases .He won State and Central Government Awards .He is
maintaining the farm very well. Then we visited a vermicompost plant. Where two
types of Vermicompost are being manufactured.
We visited
Citrus Research Centre, which is about 8 K.M away from Venkatagiri. In this
centre different varieties of diseases free citrus plants are grown in about
400 acres. This centre is famous for a Nursery developing Lime, musambi and
Mango plants, which are sold to farmers at minimum prices. This centre has
developed canker resistant high yielding varieties.
The head of
the centre Dr.Govinda Rajulu (Principal Scientist) and Horticulturist Dr.Bala
Hussein have taken us around and Explained about weed control plants disease
resistant varieties, grafting, budding and lime Nursery development. In this
Centre mulching extensively using to minimize water evaporation. One of the
scientists Dr.Prathap explained about mulching. Another scientist Dr.M.Kavitha
is working on production of trichoderma supplying to farmers at subsidized
rates.
Finally we
visited Cifal Herbal pvt. Ltd wich process Citrus Limes for Lime oil, Lime
Juice, Lime peel, Pectin etc. with this one day tour was completed
successfully.
